Beer style defined: Stout

Stout – Stouts are the darkest type of beer on the market. Most stouts are full bodied beers that can pretty much be considered a meal replacement. Notes you’ll find most apparent in stouts are chocolate, smoke, malt, or roasted coffee. Stouts, especially BA versions, are great during the winter months, as they have a tendency to keep you nice and warm, like a warm blanket, a fire in the fireplace, or your spouse. Warning: We don’t recommend replacing your spouse with a stout, though. Stouts don’t hold a grudge…

Recommendations:
Good – Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout, Great Divide Yeti series
Better – New Holland Dragon’s Milk, Jackie O’s Oro Negro, Southern Tier dessert series (Chocklat, Mokah, Crème Brulee, Choklat Oranj, Salted Caramel)
Best – Hoppin’ Frog B.O.R.I.S. series, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist, Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Clown Shoes Crasher in the Rye
